Support to Post Legislation review for Gandaki Province

Provinces have formulated many laws in the past seven years. Each province has formulated over 60 laws. But many of them could not be implemented because of various reasons such as conflict with federal level, problems on constitutionality and other technical matters.

As such, many provinces have been demanding expert support in reviewing their Acts so that they can be amended to match the constitution and federal laws and so that they can be fully implemented.

Gandaki Province made a written request to the NLS to review their two Acts – Industrial Enterprise Act and Cooperative Act.

The NLS – with the support from TAF – has provided Gandaki Province with the post-legislation review support by mobilizing its experts to conduct a thorough review of two Acts. Based on their review report, draft amendment proposals were prepared and shared with the Gandaki Province government and Assembly by holding a consultation program on April 11, 2024 in Pokhara.

The program was jointly organized by the Chief Minister's Office and NLS. There were 80 participants including chief minister, province ministers, Speaker of the province Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, members of the Province Assembly and senior officials of the province government etc. There were also participants representing the industry/ business and cooperative sector as well.
