Legislation Drafting Training program in partnership with the local government
With the objective of supporting the local level in formulating laws that they need, the NLS has worked with The Asia Foundation.
The NLS has organized such training programs in Koshi Province – Pakhribas Municipality Dhankuta on June 2-4, 2023; in Bagmati Province - Manohari Municipality on August 24-26, 2023; in Gandaki Province - Madi Rural Municipality on August 27-29, 2023; and in Sudur Paschim Province – in Bhajani Municipality on July 23-25, 2023.
The training programs involved senior law drafting experts. Each training program had 10 working sessions including five theoretical and five practical sessions.
There were 50 participants in each training program including elected representatives, officials, and staffs of the local level.
During the practical sessions, practical sessions were designed and practiced including drafting at least one law (Act) and one Rules of Procedure. After the training, the participants drafted a law by themselves and implemented in their municipality by enacting through the process.
