Established in 1982 A.D. The Nepal Law Society(NLS) is an independent non-governmental organization committed to the rule of law, human rights, women empowerment, local goverance and decentralization.

Dalit Empowerment

The NLS has worked with 50 then members of CA representing Dalit community in order to carry forward their issues in the constitution making process. A framework of Dalit issues that needs to be incorporated in new constitution was prepared and shared through the CICs. Over 2000 stakeholders have benefited from this program. In partnership with the International IDEA and Dalit former CA members, the NLS is currently engaged in advocacy of Dalit issues so that they are not overlooked in new constitution. Likewise, the NLS is also studying and sharing the status of implementation of Dalit-related aspects of interim constitution.
